My Story
My journey to Praxis spans over two decades working on sustainable development across three continents and in collaboration with NGOs, UN Agencies, the private and public sectors, academia and trade unions. My engagement with the Praxis Institute began when I offered to bring an experiential lens to embedding considerations around equity, diversity and inclusion in the design and facilitation of the Transformational Leadership Program (TLP). This invitation allowed me to witness the tectonic shifts that can occur when leaders are supported to step into a relational learning journey within a container that nourishes trust and vulnerability, and are ultimately empowered with new leadership practices that enable them to ‘show up’ differently. As a female leader of colour, I am no stranger to occupying ‘spaces at the margins’ of the mainstream sustainability ecosystem, while resisting being defined by marginalization. Nonetheless, occupying spaces at the margins has deepened my ability to surface unspoken truths and problematize blank spaces / harmful exclusions / blinkered vision. My pedagogical approach in doing so aims to bridge head, heart and hands, and ultimately invites people to catalyze their own agency for moving individuals, organizations and systems towards the arc of meaningful inclusion and social justice.
